Coach, With all the problems you mention with striding why not simply teach a no stride method? The stride is NOT a necessity to create initial energy as there are other movements that can do same (loading). It is also not an absolute in creating timing either as there are other movements that do same toe tap is one of them. Name the very best hitters in MLB today then watch them as most certainly are using no stride techniques. Great hitters cut the fat out of their swings. They minimize unnecessary movements to maximize a more efficient swing complete with power and accelerated bat speed. Greatest benefit of a no stride is a quiet head = quiet eyes and better tracking for a smoother ride of bat barrel through the zone.
