BIG TEN- LACROSSE Activity Sheet Practice #4 – Details and Diagrams 1st Activity: Warm-ups Place players in lines of 6 and perform Continuous Warm-up #1 #2015 Players will go out 15-20 yards doing the particular stretch and return. High Knees Walks- Pull Knees to Chest while standing on toes Heel To Butt- Grab, Pull and Rise Up on toe High Knees Skip- Knees Up and Toes Up High Knee Run Back Pedal- Stay low, butt down and short choppy steps Backward Run- Heel to Butt, Kick back 2nd Activity: Stick work Drills 1) Figure 8 Drill- Players will work on cradling in groups of 3. The player in the middle has the ball and goes around the other 2 players on the outside making sure to switch hands every time he goes by a player. Continue for 60 seconds then rotate the players. # 1804 2) Figure 8 w/ Passing 1805- As players go around the outside player, they will pass to the opposite outside player who will pass it right back to the middle player. The middle player proceeds to run around the other outside player and then pass to the opposite outside player. Continue for 60 seconds then rotate the players. 3) Competition- See which group can complete the most passes w/out dropping or which group can complete the most passes in 60 seconds. 4) 3 person Passing- Players are in groups of three. The ball starts w/ the player in the middle passing towards one of the outside players who catches, runs towards the middle and passes it to the third player. After passing, replace the player who caught the pass. 229 5) Players are in groups of 4 w/ 2 players in the middle w/ balls. They pass to the 2 players on the outside who pass it right back. The middle players catch and turn to the opposite outside player, run and pass to them. Outside players pass the ball back to the middle player. . Continue for 60 seconds then rotate the players. 1912 6) Full Field Weave Drill- Players get into three lines at one end of field w/ balls in the middle line. Middle player will pass to one of the other players and then proceed to go behind that player. Pass and go behind the player you passed to. #233 7) Competition- See which groups can make it w/out dropping or which group can make it the fastest. 8) Zig Zag Drill- Get players in 8 lines, 4 on each side facing each other. Balls are w/ the group in one corner. They pass to line opposite, who then catch and pass to the line opposite of them and so on until the line at the opposite corner gets the pass. As soon as the 1st pass is made, another ball is passed. Players after passing, go to the line they passed towards. 232 3rd Activity: Dodges Dodges- Have players practice the following dodges while in groups of 4. Players in the middle catch, use the dodge to get around another player before passing it to outside player. That player catches, dodges and passes. Make sure to rotate players. Do each of the dodges for 2-3 minutes w/ explanations before each new dodge. 1) Bull Dodge- 531 2) Face Dodge- 541 3) Roll Dodge- 562 4) Split Dodge- 560 4th Activity: Ground balls 1) 1v0-1364 Coach rolls ball away from players who in lines. Players scoop using proper mechanics, turn and throw back to coach 2) 2v0-1365 Coach rolls ball out away from players who are in 2 lines. Player closest to ball yells “Ball!” and scoops up while yelling, “Release!” Other player yells, “Man!” 3) Butt to Butt-1368- Get 2 players to back into each other and get low..butt to butt. Coach places ball in between them and players have to use their body to scoop the ball 4) 4) Competition- Butt to Butt playoffs 5) 1v1-1366 Players are in 2 lines and coach rolls ball away. Players have to fight for ball 6) 2v1-1367 Players are in 3 lines… the middle line is defense w/ the 2 o/s lines being offense. Coach rolls ball away. Offense tries to play man and ball. 5th Activity: Shooting 1) Shooting over goal into a 2nd goal. Teaches proper arm extension. 1370 2) 2 Line shooting Drill 220 2 Coaches w/ balls and 2 lines. Coaches pass to players V-cutting, players catch w/ o/s hand and shoot. 3) 2 Line Shooting drill Diagonal cuts 221. Players now cut towards coach diagonal 4) Competition. How many goals in 60 seconds. Use targets in goal. Which line scores 10 goals first. 5) 4 Line shooting drill 226. 2 middie lines up top w/ balls and 2 attack lines behind. Middies split dodge and pass to cutting attack who shoot. 6) Four Corners Shooting Drill- 1363 6th Activity: Small Sided Games 1) 1v1 Plus 1902 2) 1v1 Plus #2 1905 3) 1v1 Plus Continuation 1903 4) 3v2 box drill 1909– 3 offensive players need to move w/in a grid vs 2 defenders 5) 5 Lines 3v2 – 1913 5 lines, 3 offensive vs 2 defensive 6) 3v3 Live 1906
